When trying to decide if I wanted to give this book a try I could not help but be intrigued by its description. As a fantasy geek, I fell prey to the urge to discover what it was about and so my journey into this new world began.
Beware the Violet has an Alice in Wonderland vibe when you first start off but trust me when I say they are distinctly different from one another. Beware the Violet is full of many aspects that make fantasy stories my favorite genre to read. It possessed almost every fantasy/fairytale creature I could think of (though I may be missing a few). I also really enjoyed following Violet on her journey from falling down the "rabbit hole" and into this new magical realm. As I moved further through the story, I found myself reading later and later into the night in order to capture as much as I could before putting it down again.
Maria is a gifted writer who has created a world that is reminiscent but also stands apart all its own. I hope to see even more works from her in the future and impatiently await book 2 of The Eulogimenoi Series.
