Summary
Conspirator. Failure. Murderer.
Seraphina Dovetail is used to being called all these things. As the seventh-born daughter to a witch, and the cause of her mother losing both her powers and her life, Sera has always felt isolated. Until Nikolai Barrington.
The young professor not only took an interest in Sera—he took her into his home, hired her for his moonlighting detective agency, and gave her the one thing she’d always dreamed of: a chance. Under Barrington’s tutelage, Sera can finally take the School of Continuing Magic entrance exam to become an inspector and find her family. Now if only she could stop her growing attraction to her maddening boss—which is about as easy as this fiery elementalist quitting setting things on fire.
But when ghosts start dragging Sera into possessions so deep she can barely escape, and then the souls of lost witches and wizards appear trapped in mirrors, these two opposites will have to work together to uncover a much deeper secret that could destroy the Witchling world…

My Review
4 Stars
I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Mirror Bound is the second book in The Witchling Academy series. When I originally read Seventh Born I was not sure if I would enjoy it but luckily that was not the case. When given the chance to review book 2 I jumped at the chance. I could not wait to dive into this world again.
Mirror Bound picks up where the first book left off. Seventh Born left me with many questions and a desire for more world-building. Thankfully, I was not disappointed with the results. While questions where being answered I also acquired new ones. I became completely invested in how everything would eventually play out. Learning more about seventhborns and their history helped unravel more of what is going on with Sera.
Watching Sera's growth as a character during the story was very satisfying. I enjoyed getting to see more of who she is as a person shine through. Let us not forget Nikolai, seeing how his and Sera's relationship continues to blossom was sweet and satisfying. You know they care or each other but have yet to fully act upon it. Just like with book 1, I like how the romance is not the main point of the entire story. Instead, it is just a tastefully added addition that leaves us wondering when things will happen.
Monica's skills with creating a world and bringing it to life shine through in this sequel. I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next.
